AI for Archives: the presentation

Two interactive explainers, as we showed them in Lisbon.

This is the presentation we gave in Lisbon at the 8th International Conference on Public History, as the room saw it: one scrolling page with two interactive explainers. The first follows the same AI model working alone, with retrieval, and inside a curator-directed process. The second shows how ARCADE directs a model without retraining it. Scroll through it below, and try the controls, or open it full screen. The argument behind it is in our post AI for Archives.

A note on authorship: ARCADE is built through AI-inflected practice. The presentation was built by Mark Tebeau with Claude, from ARCADE’s design and testing record, and revised slide by slide before the conference. Effective use of AI announces its provenance and use.
